Quand je suis passée chez Kaleidoscope à St.Gilles,

je n'ai pas pu m'empêcher d'acheter

...... le matériel pour faire ma petite broche 'souris' ......

La voilà donc,
qui mange son mini petit beurre
et qui gambadera sur mon revers demain ....

And I had plenty little squares,
and I started to assemble them,
and ...
I didn't like the result ...

There were to many big holes between all my little grannys...
so I left it a day on the corner of my table,
and another day,
and looked at it,
and thought and medidated ...
and still love the colors ...

And I decided to set all my little squares free again ....

and so I'll finish my week-end with this :
a beautiful pile of little squares

Nevertheless,
I finished already this phone-pouch
that goes with it ...

Made in tunisian crochet,
with a hooked grip ...
so I still have some result of my work with this beautiful wool !

my squares ?
I might make some more ...
and join them at the 4 corners,
but then it wouldn't be so airy as I planned....

Think I'll wait a little,

who knows if time will bring me the solution ...

In reaction for my 'kitschy' cushion at my crochet-starter-period .... her's the link for a visual demo on YouTube posted in july 2009 by Teresa --> and she's got also a blog with a lot of tips and tricks, demo's for all kind of crochet-stitches, also with the YouTube films on it. It's so well explained and visually really clear and thus very nice for starters !

For those who prefer to crochet with a hook that has a grip, but still want to keep their old fine ones : look at how Teresa makes those grips to adapt on yours !

Unfortunately, the only book I found that describes wiggly crochet (...a 3-D crochet that was popular in the 50's for hot pads because the thickness of the final product made it a good insulator)
is out of sale (snif, snif...)
It's one of Nancy Nehring, author of several crochet books

Just waved my students goodbye for today's workshop ...
they're loaded with sewing machines, fabrics, threads, rotary cutters (cutting mat and rulers are at their disposal in my studio) and with smiles and happy feelings.

Sonja continues on her rythm
(she's the junior in quilt-seniority)
and is busy pinning before stitching "buttonhole"
on the edges of all her squares
and rectangles to fix them on the background.

Nadine is busy with some similar fabrics,
but on a smaller scale ...
what means that she'll be finished sooner ;-)

Liliane has been lingering a little ...
because of a crushed sewing machine,
but will catch up very quick !
All the fabrics are cut and pinned on the blanket,
ready to be stitched.

And Belinda, our "speedy gonzalez"
has started the next project
and in no time she almost finished 53 blocks .....

And I ?

I took care they worked hard in a pleasant environment,
I watched they had warm enough
& all the comfort they needed.
I stopped the space-invaders (they all have their part on the table, but some are always invading others's areas ...).
I provide a sweet break with refreshments,
and I - depending on their progression -
dare to do some little crochet work,
one eye on my yarn, one eye on their hands.

He came back after three years, he skated a tango with wings on his heels, and he won ! Evgeni Plushenko stopped competition after his golden medal from the Olympics in Torino, and now he showed the skating world that he's ready for Vancouver next month ... with his sixth european title.
Second Place was for Stephane Lambiel who stopped competition also for a couple of years and made his comeback,
and bronze went to Brian Joubert (who could have done better : when he's in the mood he's skating heavenly, but here...).

Kevin Vanderperren (bronze in this competition in 2007 & 2009!) ended 11th and our other Belgian skater Jori Henddrickx - in his first european competition - finished 20th, he's with the twentieth best skaters of Europe !
