In an act of solidarity, please join us for Kosovo information session in our peaceful protest against illegal partition of Serbia, at 3 PM on Sunday, 24 February 2008, at Schuman Square, Brussels.

Europeans,

Kosovo is our heart! Don't tear it out!

Stand up for international law!

Raise your voice against awarding ethnically motivated secessionism!

Today it is Kosovo, tomorrow it could be the Basque region, Corsica, Cyprus, South Tyrol, Republic of Srpska, South Ossetia, Abkhazia ...

And do not take us wrong! We are not a priori against the right of self-determination, but against its endorsement in breach of basic principles of international law! The existing one, and only until it is replaced by some new principles, for which the United Nations Security Council has the exclusive right.

The citizens of Serbia have unanimously condemned self-declared and illegal independence by Kosovo. Serbian Diaspora of Belgium and various other countries will show their disproval with the recent political developments in Brussels where certain EU member states have expressed their will to recognize illegal partition of our country.We believe that international law must be fully respected and in this case, the unilateral declaration of independence by Kosovo is in severe breach of international law - the UN Charter, UN Resolution 1244, Helsinki Final Act and the Constitution of the Republic of Serbia.

We are convinced that a constructive solution can be found on sustainable social and economic basis, benefiting people in the entire territory of Serbia, irrespective of their ethnic background. This separatist development can be seen as a threat for stability and sustainable development, being a model for further similar movements, often even classified as terrorist movements, both in Europe and world-wide.

Join us and stand up for international law on Sunday in our peaceful protest. Give your contribution to the wave of protests across Europe and world-wide!

200.000 Serviërs betoogden tegen de EU, de NAVO en de VS. De Amerikaanse ambassade moest eraan geloven. Begrijpelijk ! De VS-regering is verantwoordelijk voor het dreigend verlies van het hart van Servië, Kosovo. Servië moet "Danger Zone" worden voor elke Amerikaanse diplomaat of militair !

Servische jongeren betogen in Belgrado

Honderden jonge Serviërs hebben vanavond in Belgrado geprotesteerd tegen het uitroepen van de onafhankelijkheid door de Albanese Kosovaarse immigranten. Bij het protest raakte in de buurt van het Amerikaanse ambassadegebouw één agent licht gewond. Ook nabij de Sloveense missie in de Servische hoofdstad raakten demonstranten en ordehandhavers slaags. Slovenië is momenteel voorzitter van de Europese Unie.

Onder de betogers waren veel supporters van Servische voetbalclubs, en aanhangers van nationalistische partijen. Auto's en vuilbakken werden in brand gestoken, en de diplomatieke gebouwen werden met stenen bekogeld.

In Kosovska Mitrovica, in Kosovo, gooiden onbekenden twee granaten naar het gebouw waar het team zal verblijven dat de komst van de Europese Kosovomissie moet voorbereiden. Er vielen geen slachtoffers.

Putin scolds Europe over double standards on Kosovo

President Vladimir Putin rejected on Thursday arguments by European powers that Kosovo is a "special case" in seeking independence, and accused the countries of employing double standards on the issue.

The separatist Albanian-dominated province in southern Serbia is expected to unilaterally declare independence on Sunday or Monday, a move backed by the United States and most EU countries. Serbia, Russia and some European states oppose the plans, considering them a violation of international law.

During his final annual news conference as Russian president, Putin said: "I don't want to offend anyone, but Northern Cyprus has been a de facto independent republic for 40 years. Why then don't you recognize it? Aren't you, Europeans, ashamed of applying double standards in solving identical problems in different parts of the world?"

Russia has repeatedly said that granting Kosovo sovereignty could serve as a precedent and trigger a chain reaction for secessionist regions throughout the world, including in Greece, Spain, Georgia, Moldova and Cyprus. But countries supporting Kosovo's independence insist that the case is unique, and that there is no threat of weakening international law.

Putin said: "There is nothing unique about this problem and everyone knows this. It is all the same: an interethnic conflict, crime on both sides and a complete de facto independence."

He said Serbia's territorial integrity was fixed in UN Security Council Resolution 1244, adopted in 1999 following NATO bombings that ended a bloody conflict between Albanian and Serb forces in Kosovo, so "all UN member states must follow its provisions."

The president called for uniform rules for solving such problems, and warned that international law and order would otherwise be undermined.

However, Putin assured that if Western countries acknowledge Kosovo's independence, Russia has no plans to seek "non-legal" retaliation.

A plan for Kosovo's independence failed in UN Security Council discussions. Russia, a veto-wielding member of the council, maintains that a solution should be based on a compromise between Belgrade and Pristina, and calls for security and humanitarian problems to be rectified in the province.

Die Vereinigung der serbischen Gemeinschaften in der südserbischen Provinz Kosovo hat alle Kosovo-Serben zu Protestaktionen am 18. Februar aufgerufen, falls die Kosovo-Albaner am Sonntag die Unabhängigkeit der Provinz von Serbien verkünden sollten.Dies melden die örtlichen Medien.Die Vereinigung warnt die serbische Bevölkerung vor möglichen Provokationen und bezeichnet das geplante Eintreffen der EU-Polizeimission in der Provinz als "Besetzungsakt".Der Leiter der Vereinigung, Marko Jaksic forderte Belgrad auf, "mit Okkupanten keine Abkommen über Annäherung und Stabilität zu unterzeichnen, denn dies wäre Hochverrat".Die Vereinigung kündigte auch ihre Pläne an, am 11. Mai Kommunalwahlen und Wahlen in das Serbische Parlament (Skupschtschina) von Kosovo und Metochien durchzuführen.Dabei wird in der Erklärung betont, dass die Kosovo-Serben ihre Handlungen mit Belgrad abstimmen würden.
