Superslinger is a very young band... Founded in May 2005 actually. At that time, Fred had a few songs in mind and was looking for musicians. Fred immediately asked his brother Bert to play the guitar and to put all his energy in the band. Naturally, to hold the bass, he called his old friend RC, who already participated in the experience of X3. Drummer Gerry showed up one night as sideman of a renowned pianist in Namur, with his typical lazy style ;-) As simple as it is, the guys joined to rehearse and arranged the songs of Fred. The first gig came in July 2005, and a few other ones followed with a sometimes unexpectedly good response of the audience. The band rapidly recorded a 4 tracks EP in September 2005, which got airplay on the national rock station Classic 21 and on local radio shows.The style of Superslinger is difficult to define... Superslinger est un groupe très récent ! En vérité fondé en Mai 2005. En ces temps immémoriaux, Fred a quelques chansons en tête et recherche des musiciens pour concrétiser ses idées. Il demande immédiatement à son frère Bert de tenir la guitare rythmique et d'insuffler toute son énergie au projet. Naturellement, ils se tournent vers le gaillard RC Stock pour assurer la basse et la contrebasse. Quand à Gerry, il révèle son style typiquement 'relax' lors d'un obscur concert dans un bar enfumé derrière un pianiste américain. Rapidement, les musiciens se rassemblent pour répéter et arranger les chansons de Fred. Le premier concert vient en juillet 2005. Superslinger is een zeer recente groep, gesticht in 2005 toen Fred op zoek was naar muzikanten om de enkele songs die hij in zijn hoofd had te concretiseren. Onmiddellijk vraagt hij aan zijn broer Bert om de rythmische gitaar voor zijn rekening te nemen en al zijn energie in het project te steken. Natuurlijk wenden ze zich tot hun vriend René Stock voor de basgitaar en contrabas. De typische relax stijl van gerry wordt hun geopenbaard in een rokerige bar, waar hij een amerikaanse pianist begeleidde. Al snel komen deze vier muzikanten samen om de composities van Fred te repeteren en...

Er komt een eerste concert in juli 2005. Veel andere volgen daarop met positieve reacties in het publiek. Het minste wat er gezegd kan worden is dat de live prestaties interactief zijn. De groep beslist dan om een maxi cd op te nemen met vier nummers in september 2005. Deze CD wordt zeer regelmatig op Classic 21 gedraaid en ook op lokale radiostations.

De stijl van Superslinger is nogal moeilijk te omschrijven, soms relaxerend, some groovy , vol energie, maar altijd onvoorspelbaar. hun muziek is een mengelinging tussen sfeer en gevoelens. We kunnen het postmoderne rock-pop-folk-blues noemen met typische belgische mayonaise.

Sivan Perwer is widely recognized as the foremost singer among the Kurds today. The hypnotic rhythms of his songs and his beautiful vibrating voice will hypnotize you as he sings traditional Kurdish songs of love, war, heroism, and longing for a homeland free from persecution. His extraordinary ability to express his passion and activism through music has resulted in the Iraqi, Iranian and Turkish governments' placing a ban on his music. Sivan has recorded 20 albums and continues to be a voice for the Kurdish people. Sivan Perwer was born between Diyarbakir and Urfa, Turkish Kurdistan in 1955. His birthplace was full of musical activity. His father was a great Kurdish flute player and his older brother was influential as a singer. His childhood was full of musical gatherings, dances, and festivities. By the time he was in high school people were asking him to make records. At that time this was not in his mind; he was involved with furthering his studies to help his Kurdish people. Besides, recordings could only be done in Turkish, not in his native language Kurdish. From 1975 on he became a protest singer. He has become the best known Kurdish musician in the world, accompanying himself on the tanbur, Kurdish 3-course lute. Sivan Perwer is also a highly accomplished composer.At this time he has recorded over 30 cassettes, records, numerous CDs, film and video music. He has become a teacher and inspiration for many Kurdish singers; but especially for his son. By now Sivan Perwer has become a living legend, giving performances all over the world, participating in solidarity concerts, crossing continents with multi-cultural events. Spanning the range from traditional to folk, from classical to protest songs to songs of freedom and friendship, in various Kurdish dialects. He sings of love and peace despite the fact that he can not go back to his homeland since the day he left his country in 1976. His land is a forbidden land and he's a forbidden man.

Al bijna dertig jaar leeft hij in ballingschap, ver van Turks Koerdistan waar hij is geboren en getogen. Zijn verplichte vertrek kwam er omdat hij het waagde in zijn taal te zingen: het Koerdisch.

Na een dertigtal albums, waarvan een aantal nog steeds verboden zijn in Turkije is Sivan Perwer meer dan ooit het boegbeeld van de Koerdische cultuur.

Er is geen Koerd die hem niet kent, eerbiedigt en bewondert.

In een land waar de Koerdische taal en cultuur jarenlang monddood werden gemaakt, geven zijn liederen het Koerdische volk hoop op een betere toekomst.

Vele landgenoten van Sivan Perwer hebben de kennis van hun taal en traditie aan zijn liederen te danken.

Zijn repertoire bestaat zowel uit traditionele liederen als uit liederen met eigentijdse themas.

Centraal staat altijd het verlangen naar de erkenning van het Koerdische volk, maar Sivan Perwer roept nooit op tot geweld.

Voor de westerse wereld is het moeilijk te begrijpen wat Sivan Perwer voor zijn landgenoten betekent. Hij is één van de belangrijkste culturele vertegenwoordigers van het Koerdische volk, terwijl de meeste Koerden hem nooit hebben zien spelen in zijn vaderland.

Hij zet de eeuwenlange Koerdische bardentraditie voort. Zijn mooie en krachtige stem en zijn natuurlijke charisma maken van hem een heel aparte figuur, het idool van miljoenen Koerden.

Sivan Perwer heeft onlangs het album "Min Bêriya te Kiriye" uitgebracht op het label Daqui.

Il y a près de trente ans que Sivan Perwer a quitté sa terre natale d'Urfa, dans le Kurdistan turc. Et ce départ n'est pas le fruit de sa décision, c'est un exil dû à un seul fait : Sivan Perwer chante en kurde. Aujourd'hui, avec une trentaine d'albums à son actif, dont une partie toujours interdits en Turquie, Sivan Perwer apparaît plus que jamais comme l'icône de la culture kurde. Il ne se trouve pas un Kurde qui ne le connaisse, le respecte, l'admire. Dans un pays où, pendant bien longtemps, la langue et la culture kurdes ont été étouffées pas de publications, pas de médias, pas de scolarité, pas d'expression artistique les chansons de Sivan Perwer ont toujours un parfum de terre promise. Beaucoup de compatriotes de Sivan Perwer ont maintenu la connaissance de leur langue et de leur patrimoine historique et littéraire à travers ses chansons, qui ont toujours continué à circuler "en dessous du manteau". Son répertoire visite tantôt les traditionnels, aborde à d'autres moments des thèmes plus contemporains liés aux désirs de reconnaissance du peuple kurde, mais ne sombrent jamais dans l'appel à la violenceIl est difficile pour nous d'imaginer ce que représente Sivan Perwer pour ses compatriotes. Il est réellement le porte-étendard culturel d'un peuple, un peuple qui n'a jamais pu le voir en concert sur ses terresArtistiquement, Sivan Perwer est aussi un grand Monsieur. Il perpétue la tradition des bardes kurdes, aidant au transfert entre les générations d'un patrimoine littéraire oral, tout en y ajoutant sa personnalité. De naam Tan is als verkleinwoord afgeleid van de voornaam van de Turkse groepsleider Tanar Çatalpinar. TAN vormt ook de beginletters van de voornamen van ieder van de groepsleden: Tanar is de zanger en neemt saz en saxofoon voor zijn rekening; Alon Tamir is Israëlier en bassist; Nicolas Hauzeur tenslotte is Belg en de violist van de groep. Kortom, de samenstelling van de formatie, de invloeden die op haar inwerken en haar openheid en verdraagzaamheid schemeren reeds door haar benaming heen. Tan put zijn inspiratie in de traditionele muziek van de meest afgelegen uithoeken van Anatolië en Mesopotamië. Tanar is geboren in Turkije. .Hij werkte o.a. samen met jazz-musici waarbij hij de groep Turquoiseoprichtte, die men kan bestempelen als ethnische jazz. Daarna stichtte hij de groep East meets West. Hij nam deel aan het Womad-album van Peter Gabriël en aan een cd van Robert Musso (Active Resonance). In 1992 werd hij lid van het World Music ensemble Acha.

Ils sont trois. Ils puisent leur inspiration dans le doux ronflement des Massey Ferguson de la belle époque. Ils répandent la joie et la bonne humeur sur leur passage. Ce sont les Ugly Buggy Boys: Nick à la batterie, Averell à la guitare et au chant et Holly à la contrebasse.Leur musique ? Ce nest pas du tout du reggae, Ce nest pas du tout du ska. Ce nest pas du tout du twist. Ce nest pas du tout du disco. Ce nest pas, mais vraiment pas du tout, de la techno. Alors, que nous jouent-ils ces joyeux trouvères ? Leur son n'est pas vraiment celui de la country, ni du swing, ni du hillbilly, ni du rockabilly, ni du ragtime, mais ça sen approche. Les Ugly Buggy Boys jouent peut-être le hard rock des années 20, ou le western swing de demain. Laissons les puristes à leurs débats stériles, nous népiloguerons pas plus longtemps sur la question. Une chose est certaine, la Belgique tient avec les Ugly Buggy Boys un fameux Boys Band !Les Ugly Buggy Boys font souffler un vent de fraîcheur sur le rock. Leur musique est endiablée, amusante, sautillante, survoltée, déjantée, décalée, spontanée. Leur formule électro-acoustique sinscrit à contretemps des productions actuelles, et cest tant mieux. Leurs compositions distillent en une alchimie des plus réussie le meilleur du swing, du hillbilly, du country blues, du boogie. Ze zijn met drie. Ze halen hun inspiratie uit de zacht ronkende Massey Fergusons van weleer. Overal waar ze komen zorgen ze voor plezier en ambiance. Het zijn de Ugly Buggy Boys : Nick op de drums, Averell speelt gitaar en zingt, Holly speelt contrabas. Welke muziekstijl spelen de Ugly Buggy Boys ? Geen reggae, geen ska, geen twist, geen disco en zeker geen techno ! Wat spelen ze dan wel ? Het is ook geen country, noch swing, noch hillbilly, noch rockabilly, noch ragtime maar het komt wel aardig in de buurt. The Ugly Buggy Boys spelen misschien hard rock van de jaren 20 of de western swing van de toekomst. Kortom, the Ugly Buggy Boys kunnen niet simpelweg in een vakje geplaatst worden. Eén ding is zeker : België is een stevige Boys Band rijker! De Ugly Buggy Boys staan in voor verfrissende rockmuziek. Hun muziek is onstuimig, vrolijk, huppelend , totaal geschift, spontaan.Hun elektro-akoestiek onderscheidt zich van de huidige producties en daar kunnen we alleen maar blij om zijn.
